*Active vs Passive Mobile Phase Heater:

  • Passive mobile phase heaters are bolted to the floor of the column oven. Their heating capacity is limited by physical size and by the operating temperature of the column oven.

  • Active mobile phase heaters are actively heated separate from the column oven. They have their own heater, their own PID temperature controller and are typically operated at temperatures that are higher than the column oven. Active phase heaters have much higher capacities than passive phase heateres
